Who Were You Before the World Told You Who to Be?

Before the opinions.

Before the expectations.

Before someone decided success had to look a certain way.

God knew you before you took your first breath. Before your first report card. Before someone asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” He had already placed gifts inside of you and a purpose that was uniquely yours.

Then life happened.

School encouraged you to pursue a certain career.

Society measured success by promotions, paychecks, square footage, and the logo on your car.

Social media told you what your life should look like.

Friends, family, and culture all had opinions about what happiness was supposed to be.

Little by little, we begin chasing a picture someone else painted.

Some people spend decades climbing a ladder, only to reach the top and quietly wonder…

Whose ladder was I climbing?

It’s possible to build a beautiful life and still feel disconnected from yourself.

Somewhere along the journey, you stopped asking what God created you for.

Maybe He called you to build a business.

Maybe He called you to teach.

Maybe He called you to create.

Maybe He called you to serve in ways that don’t fit anyone else’s definition of success.

Purpose isn’t measured by applause.

It isn’t measured by a title.

It’s measured by obedience.

So here’s a question worth sitting with today:

If no one else’s expectations existed… if there were no fear of judgment, no pressure to impress, no definition of success except God’s… what kind of life would you be building?

Maybe discovering who you are isn’t about becoming someone new.

Maybe it’s about remembering who God knew you were all along.
